Frequently asked questions
- Is the video uploaded?
- No. Screenshots are taken locally with HTML5 video + Canvas, so the server never receives the file.
- Which formats are supported?
- Please use MP4 or WebM that your browser can play. If a format such as AVI will not preview, transcode it first.
- Why can I not paste a link to a remote video?
- A cross-origin video taints the canvas, so the image cannot be exported. Please upload a local file.
- Is the capture time accurate — and will I get black frames?
- Browser seeking is usually not frame accurate and can be off by ±1 frame; occasional black frames are retried once automatically.
- How is this different from Video to GIF or Video to Long Image?
- This tool exports single frames or batches of stills; use Video to GIF for animations and Video to Long Image for a stitched long picture.
