How to trim a video clip precisely — intros, outros and export tips

Explains how to pick the start and end times when trimming a video locally in the browser, the common pitfalls (key frames, audio sync) and how to use the TwoThink video trimmer.

You only need the middle three minutes of a meeting recording, or you want to drop the advert at the start of a short clip — you do not need a whole editing suite. Cutting a section in the browser and exporting it is enough, and your footage never gets uploaded.

How to trim accurately

  1. Open Trim Video
  2. Drag in a local video
  3. Set the start and end times (rough cut first, then fine-tune the seconds)
  4. After exporting, check the first and last frame in a player

If the target platform limits the length, trim first and then Compress Video — the size is much easier to control that way.

Common pitfalls

  • The key frame is not on a whole second: leave an extra 0.5–1 seconds and compress afterwards, or accept that the cut lands on the nearest key frame
  • You only want the picture, not the end BGM: after trimming, use Extract Audio to check whether you still need the audio track
  • Landscape footage for TikTok: after trimming you can chain it into Landscape to Vertical Video

Privacy

The processing happens locally in your browser (including FFmpeg WASM). Internal training material and unreleased pitch videos feel safer there than on an editing cloud.
